And so the story goes…..

Recently, I was having a conversation with a dear friend.  She was explaining how something happened to her that was rather unexpected, but nice nonetheless.  As she began to talk, I heard phrases of, “I’m not good enough,” and “I don’t deserve,” seep out of her mouth.  I allowed her to talk, but soon our conversation was cut short.  I didn’t get the opportunity to address things that she said.

Had I the chance, I would’ve told her that the negative things that she spoke were not accurate statements.  Moreover, she needs to know that she does deserve these and other positive things that can come her way.

Let me take this yet a step further.

I have noticed that people are much harder on themselves than any one person could ever be.  It’s true what they say: We are our own worst critic.  There’s no use in talking yourself out of good things.  I find myself quick to think of reasons why I shouldn’t have something versus why I should.  This is not in the absence of thankfulness, but being preceded by a myriad of “I should not’s,” it is often not mentioned out of sheer forgetfulness.

I give myself a hefty portion of credit for somethings, but not enough for others.  I am almost “eager” to give myself credit for all of my flaws, but rarely give credit for my strengths.  It’s not good, and I know it.  By reminding myself to give more credit to my strengths, it will help me see and appreciate a different side .

Afterall; I should be my greatest fan, not my greatest critic.

Until Next TIme,

Love & Perky Vibes.
